Blame it on a lack of focus, concentration or just the inability to feel clear headed, but a bad night’s sleep results in roughly 30% more mistakes at the office – whether you notice it or not.

It can be as simple as a few typos, or as large as forgetting a huge deadline, (memory recall is affected as well, after all), which results in more work and more stress for everyone attached to a task or project.

Increase in Procrastinating

Nearly 50% of employees who suffer from a lack of sleep or a sleeping disorder report that they procrastinate more on the job.

Obviously, this, in turn, creates more work across the board, a scramble to get things done, and a sense that you need to “catch up” rather than “initiate.”

To do your best, you need to be ahead of the game, and it starts with a good night’s rest.

Increase in Workplace Safety Hazard Incidents

A lack of sleep is one of the number one causes of safety hazards at the workplace.

It’s why most accidents at larger companies occur during night shifts, or by employees that have changing work shifts that can occur at all hours of the day or night.

In fact, night shift workers are five times more likely to have a car accident on the way to work – let alone while on the job.

Accidents at the workplace can lead to a number of headaches for employees and company owners alike and are essentially one of the most costly side effects of a workforce that isn’t well rested.
